Rebrand | Digits Accounting

My darling sister, Hanneke Barlow, has been running her own accounting business for a few years and has had incredible success so far. She approached me last year to redesign her logo, corporate identity and website to grow her business even further. It was such a pleasure to not only work with my sister but with my fiancé, Sean Campbell – my favourite web developer, of course. Sean has been building some incredible websites, including my own, and I am beyond proud to see the growth in his own freelance journey. Since the launch the www.digitsaccounting.co.za website this weekend, Hanneke has signed three clients already. Success!

Jane Sews on 83 Castle

This is a story sewn by honest hands speaking to a simpler way of living. #mysummerwithjane – Amy Venter

Hello twenty eighteen. It has been a beautiful break filled with sunshine, friends and family. The final tick off my holiday wish list before I head back to my studio on Monday was to visit the new Jane Sews pop-up shop 83 Castle Street, Cape Town. The store is exceptionally decorated and truly celebrates expertly made fashion in earthy tones. I could spend hours exploring the linen, cotton, silk and leather pieces and took my camera with me to capture the experience and share this gorgeous local brand with you all.

a purist home makeover

A visual story capturing the home makeover by House of Hawks for Natelee Cocks, two wildly talented South African ladies currently working and living in Dubai.

I was recently introduced to the Australian series, The Block. It has quickly become my favourite show to watch. My thoughts are now completely immersed in all things architecture and interior design.

I adore seeing where my artworks end up and was blown away when one of my special clients, Natelee Cocks, emailed me photographs of my pieces up in her newly renovated home. She commissioned two tiny originals last year, as a gift to her husband, capturing their favourite memories of travels and adventures together (you can view and read the full story behind the artworks here).

Uzuri | an interview

Seeking to move mountains. By faith. In love. With passion. But on our own terms. We remind each other of this truth when the climb is steep + rewards few. – Uzuri

The exquisite Uzuri brand has captured my attention for quite some time now and when I found out they were releasing their thoughtfully crafted Summer 2017 collection I thought it was time to approach the ladies for a little interview to learn more about their brand and products. Uzuri is a brand that truly resonates with me personally and the touching story behind the business draws me in even further.

Workshop | Styling by Matanna Katz

Another first for my workshops! I approached the obscenely talented Matanna Katz of Ethereal Bound Journal to lead a styling hour at my Ink + Foil workshop. Styling is something I have been working on especially in the last year and it was truly exceptional to see the difference between the photographs the attendees took during the workshop compared to the photographs during the styling hour. Drawings, or anything else for that matter, are elevated with a thoughtful approach to props and natural lighting.

Ink + Foil Workshop

Finally had some time to go through all of the photographs and share it with you all. This workshop was my very first one where I was in charge of everything. It was a daunting task, but I wanted to really focus on what I would personally want to attend and work from there. The idea was to create a space for people to not only learn about drawing, but to connect with someone new and celebrate our wonderfully talented female creatives in South Africa.

Workshop | Local Gifts

My Ink + Foil workshop was held this past weekend and it was the first time that I was in charge of everything myself. I missed my talented friend Lynn who usually would deal with all of the admin, gift bags and tools immensely. 🙂

Berlin Exhibition

What an unbelievable privilege to travel all the way to Berlin to share my latest project through Urban Noun at Level EIGHT in the German burrow of Mitte. As a contemporary illustrator it is important for me to step away from commissioned originals every now and then in order to address tough issues we are experiencing in our country.

Healing Hands

Proud to reveal the final artwork of the series in anticipation of my very first European exhibition coming up in September. This piece resonates with me in a very personal way. It speaks to the power to heal, to hurt, to love or to destroy. As women, or simply human beings in general, we have immense strength and power buried deep inside us. How we decide to wield that power will define us as individuals.

Female Contours

This is one of my all time favourite drawings, celebrating every contour of a female’s body. Ever scar, experience and imperfection creates an exquisite layer that makes you unique. It reveals your strength, growth and perseverance through every hardship.
