“Married in veils of June mist,
Fortune your wedding-ring has kissed.
Married in days of July’s cheer,
Love’s star shines brighter from year to year.”
– Ancient Wedding Rhyme
I adore styled shoots. There is something so refreshing about stepping away from my desk and spending the day with an assortment of local creative females. The inspiration, enthusiasm and delightful creativity is intoxicating. Generally, I love being behind the camera but when working with a photographer that I trust I have no problem playing the role of the normal, curvy, girl-next-door schmodel.
Cape Town truly is a fish bowl. I ran into my darling friend Shari of Bouwer Flowers in Deckle Edge one day and we were chatting about possible collaborations. I needed a florist for a workshop and she needed a real life couple for a styled Winter Wanderlust shoot. Sean and I were not engaged at this point but I was delighted to finally have a photoshoot with the two of us. Sharing this tiny piece of my world with him was priceless to me. He is exceptionally camera shy but damn when that man smiles he is breathtaking.
We spent an incredible day at The Dairy Shed outside of Durbanville where I got to see the behind the scenes process of setting up a styled wedding shoot. Let me tell you, it is a lot of work. Every detail is carefully considered and teams of multiple brands are required to bring this together. These shoots form the life force of brands to showcase local talent in an exquisite collaboration that help us brides to envision our special day and decide which styles we prefer. We are overwhelmed by choice in Cape Town so these shoots are vital for our selection process.
In a beautiful twist of fate, Sean had planned his proposal the Saturday before the shoot. It was put into motion months ago and he put an incredible amount of effort into it. How lucky that we had this shoot not even a week later to celebrate our engagement with a team of experts. God is truly showing off all of His wonderful blessings for our engagement. Everything is simply falling into place better than we could ever of dreamed of ourselves.
Thank you for inviting us to play models for the shoot. It was such a special day for us and one that we will cherish forever.
Thank you to this incredible amalgamation of local talent for including Sean and I in this winter fairytale. We can both highly recommend them as vendors for your wedding or event. They are beautiful souls with talented hands and exquisite hearts.
